Pricing Strategist - NY/NJ
In this highly dynamic and fast-paced environment, this individual will be responsible for leading the development of pricing strategies across the various businesses within the organization. This newly created role requires a unique balance of strategic consulting and analytical skills. The position will have the opportunity to present findings and share insights with multiple business leaders throughout the organization including merchandising, marketing, supply chain, operations, finance etc.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with merchandising teams to understand category performance, trends, competitive set and the impact of seasonal merchandise to sales and profitability performance
• Evaluate competitive pricing position and recommend changes to enhance overall value proposition
• Identify opportunities for omni-channel pricing changes
• Design, execute, analyze and interpret markdown experiments to determine optimal markdown/clearance strategies to maximize margin and sell-through
• Mine and translate data into meaningful insights and pricing recommendations for the operational and strategic business units
• Present findings to merchandising partners and work to develop alternative strategies and next phase implementation
• Design metrics, analytics, and insights generators from core reporting and dashboards for socialization of new strategies throughout the organization
• Document key markdown and pricing strategies and analyze and track progress on strategic decisions
• Answer key business questions using analytical & statistical techniques on data
Required Skills
• 2-5 years professional experience in a merchandising or retail analytics role
• The ability to communicate complex analysis to the business in a clear, precise and actionable manner
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as demonstrable comfort presenting to management teams
• Be detail-oriented and comfortable with a fast-paced, structured, retail environment
• Intellectual curiosity
• A minimum Bachelor's degree in Business/Management, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics or a related field
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint
Preferred Skills
• Knowledge of SAS (or R) and SQL a plus
• Working knowledge of Microstrategy/Tableau (or other BI Viz tools)
